His Holiness Lama Yeshe Jamtso Rinpoche is an important linage holder of Yarchen Vddiyana Meditation Monastery, a sacred sanctuary for Nyingmapa practitioners. Rinpoche is also one of the principal disciples of H.H Dharma King Lama Achuk Rinpoche who was recognized as the moon of Tibet, while the sun being Dharma King Jigme Phuntosk. Lama Achuk Rinpoche once proclaimed at a ceremony that in terms of the realization of supramundane dharma, Yeshe Jamtso ranks first among all his principal disciples; Rinpoche also praised him as the precious banner among all the achievers in Yarchen Monastery.

H.H. Lama Yeshe Jamtso Rinpoche was born in 1972, the Tibetan year of the Earth Rat in Nyaron County within Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province, China – a beautiful and miraculous place. This region is known for producing gifted and outstanding people and its elegant mountains, and it continuously receives blessings from many Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Many great siddhas were born here, such as the rainbow body achiever Terton1 Pema Dundul Lerab Lingpa and Lama Aku and so on.

Rinpoche was brought away from his home to stay in a monastery by his Lama Uncle when he was one year old. At the age of seven he started to learn Tibetan and sutra. At the age of twelve, he began to lead chanting in the monastery. At the age of sixteen, he was ordinated as a monk and then went to Katok Monastery, the ancestral monastery of Nyingmapa. After nine years of diligent listening, contemplating and practicing the Dharma, Rinpoche obtained Khenchen Degree, which is the equivalent of a doctorate degree. During his retreat in Katok Monastery, he regained the level of realization of the Dharma achieved in his previous lives in a short time, which includes the accomplishments of Yamantaka, Dorje Phurba and three principal Dharma Protectors. Rinpoche also received precious terma empowerments from the venerable master Dolo in his own county, and subsequently he received many teachings of the secret mantra and accepted many profound empowerments from Dharma King Jigme Phuntsok. After this, Rinpoche mastered teachings from both exoteric and esoteric Buddhism, which gave him a good foundation for helping all sentient beings. Rinpoche was then told to go to Yarchen Monastery to meet Lama Achuk Rinpoche as they had had guru-disciple relationship for many previous incarnations. Thus Yeshe Jamtso Rinpoche came to Yarchen Monastery and recognised Lama Achuk Rinpoche as his root guru. Yeshe Jamtso Rinpoche studied diligently under Lama Achuk Rinpoche and eventually attained the full realization of profound Dzogchen.
