Powa Temple is a sacred place for Tibetan Buddhism practitioners. It is located at the Lang Mountain in Nyaron County within Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province, China. It is a beautiful and miraculous place known for its elegant mountains, outstanding people, and blessings from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Many well-known achievers were born here, such as the rainbow body achiever Pema Dundul, Terton (hidden treasure master) Lerab Lingpa and Lama Aku and so on. 200 years ago, Master Pema Dundul and his key disciple Yeshe Dorje built Powa Temple and ever since, it was well known for the practice of Powa, a method applied at the moment of death to transfer one’s consciousness through to top of the head directly into the Buddha-field of one’s choice. In 1999, Lama Achuk Rinpoche has confirmed that Yeshe Jamtso Rinpoche was the reincarnation of the venerable Yeshe Dorje who had been the supreme one of the 13 key disciples of the venerable master Pema Dundul (1812-1883) who had been predicted by Guru Rinpoche to be the one hundred thousandth person at Katok Monastery to achieve rainbow body. Yeshe Jamtso Rinpoche was assigned as the abbot of Powa Monastery by Lama Achuk Rinpoche.
